We have been doing some marketing research on direct mailing versus social media and came across some very interesting statistics that we want to share.
"2 in 3: number of people who prefer print catalogs to online catalogues."
"On average, those who receive at least a print catalog spend 28 percent more and buy 28 percent more items that those who do not receive a catalog.
"12 percent of households receiving at least a letter, postcard and/or flier, from a company have made a purchase on the company's website."
"65 percent portion of marketers who say their companies have not increased revenue or profit using social media."
However it's important to know that Scott Monty, a global digital and multimedia communications manager at Ford, experienced great success when he applied several different social media outlets to introduce the new Ford Fiesta in 2009. He says that the Ford Fiesta movement “was entirely driven by social media” and the result for this process was 10 times higher then any other process used in the past for the other vehicles.
"According to a 2010 social media study 86 percent of B to B firms and 82 percent of B to C firms are actively engaging with their audiences via social media outlets."
"In 2009 it was found that 46 percent of adults use social media."

"More small businesses are using direct mail to attract new clients. Almost half (47 percent) consider mail important to finding new customers or members, up 18 percent from 2009."

Wow, this is very interesting. I know I always prefer catalogs to websites. I know I shouldn't because of all the paper it uses and the waste it can create, but there is just something about holding that catalog in your hand... I guess it's kind of like real books vs. Kindle and the like.
ReplyDeleteHow do you decide who to mail to?
Nice flyers, by the way!
Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteDeciding who to send the postcards to is a long process that starts with generating a list of local targets then doing informative calls (aka cold calls) and asking permission to send them more info. In the end we just want our prospective clients to know that we are here when they need us :D
